Why she paints
“I want it to remind you of who you really are — and who you want to be.”
Andrea KoralHow a painting begins
Every painting starts with words — sometimes yours.
Then the color comes, mixed muddy on the palette…
…layer over layer, texture over texture…
…until the words live underneath.

“My studio is like a grown-up version of a kid’s playroom — I can forget about adult stuff and just create.”

02 — The artist
Andrea Koral is a fine artist from Clarkston, Michigan. Her paintings are built in layers — acrylic, collage paper, and every kind of pencil — with textures that come from unexpected places: limestone powder, coffee, even dirt.
She starts with bright color and mixes it muddy on the palette, hunting for the rich, complex hues you can’t get straight from the tube. The result is work with depth you can see and feel.
And underneath it all: sometimes she writes words or prayers into the first layers of a painting. Even covered up, they add intent — and connect the piece to the person it’s being made for.

03 — Commissions
The most meaningful pieces start with a person — a space, a season, a truth being manifested. Andrea creates custom work for homeowners and designers, sized from small studies to six-foot statements.

A short questionnaire about your space, your palette, and what the painting should hold — the truths you want in it.
Andrea writes them into the underpainting, then builds the layers of color and texture over them. They stay in the piece, even where you can’t see them.
Finished, framed, and sent from the Clarkston studio to your wall — made to fit the space it was imagined for.
